Dignity and Respect in the workplace
Our most successful course, where Peter explains the legal requirements regarding discrimination but, crucially, adapts the course to your organisation and your culture / how you want your culture to develop.
The following courses are available.
Dignity and Respect in the workplace
The aim of the course is not to create a sterile environment where nobody can have a laugh, it is to educate the team around this important subject and agree where the ‘bar’ is so people are clear what is acceptable whilst at work and what isn’t.
The course is designed to improve your culture and avoid people causing offence at work, whether they meant to or not, but without destroying your healthy culture and going ‘over the top’. Clearly, it will also help to avoid time consuming and expensive complaints, grievances and Tribunals for discrimination.
The main topics and learning points are explained in story form based on actual Tribunal cases to make the main points clear and easy to understand. Attendees tend to find this interesting and engaging. It certainly encourages debate!
*An optional module can be added on supporting Transgender employees and the legal framework that organisations need to be aware of.
Diversity Awareness
Often delivered prior to, and in conjunction with the Dignity and Respect course, we introduce the concept of diversity and agree how to embrace a diverse workforce where all cultures and parts of society are valued for what they can bring to the Organisation.
We also discuss tackling ‘unconscious bias’, where a high proportion of people do not intend to discriminate but their actions sometimes result in sections of society being excluded or having less opportunities.
The course includes 3 short videos including the excellent and thought provoking ‘like a girl’, that asks when and why did doing something ‘like a girl’ become an insult?
*An optional module can be added to this course covering supporting Transgender employees and understanding the issues around this important subject.
